Price/performance ratio

There are very few flashes this size, such as the Contax TLA 200 and the Fujifilm EF-X20, both of which are more than 300€. As an affordable alternative, the Simple Flash offers outstanding flash performance, is more compact than both competitors and also made of high-quality aluminum. The Simple Flash can definitely compete with the hyped and now ~€450 Contax TLA 200. The Simple Flash has a guide number of GN10 which is more than sufficient for portraits, fill-in flash and snapshot look. The TLA 200 has a guide number of GN20, but in most cases this is not utilized. Only the TTL function on Contax cameras is omitted, the Simple Flash is used as on the vast majority of cameras simply used in manual setting. The only other alternative in this size range is the Fujifilm EF-X20, which is now also ~350€ due to lack of production. The flash also has a guide number of GN20 and supports TTL metering only on digital Fujifilm cameras.

Manual setting

The camera is switched to flash mode (usually marked X). There is a table on the back of the flash, if the ISO is known and it is clear at what distance the flash is to be used, the appropriate aperture can be found in the table. The shutter speed in X mode is usually fixed at 1/60th or 1/125th.
